The school aims towards excellence in the academic results of each student. Each student is encouraged to maintain a positive commitment to learning and to work toward his/her maximum potential.
The system of “Heads of Department” (HODs) for each phase assures the expectations mentioned above as they strive to establish a high-quality teaching and learning environment. The heads of department promote enthusiasm, openness to new ideas, commitment and a happy and homogenous departmental team.
In addition, the heads of department identify strengths and areas of development with colleagues, providing outlets for these strengths while offering guidance and training for developmental areas so that teachers within the department continue to improve their professional skills.
Correspondance with parents
The responsibility for a child’s education rests primarily with parents but parents do also entrust part of that responsibility to the child’s school. Our desire is to keep a close relationship with them. The following methods are used:
A handbook is available for both parents, students and teachers at the beginning of each school year to inform them of the policy of the school.
A regular Parent-Teacher Development Time (PTDT) is also set for the end of each school term for parents and teachers to discuss the scholastic progress of their child. We take time out to discuss issues, problematic behavior of a student, or a student’s successes with the parents; we encourage parents to promote various diverse interests in their children; and we inform the parents about afterschool activities; excursions, meetings and detention (where applicable).
Each pupil/student has a diary/homework book which is used not only to record homework, assignments and upcoming tests but also for daily communication between teachers and parents. This regular dialogue by way of the diary/homework book helps parents to monitor their child’s scholastic progress.
Should anything happen to a pupil/student at the campus during school hours, parents are immediately contacted by phone.
Class size/Classroom environment
We expect a lot from our students. To help them learn, achieve their best, and to help with classroom management, the size of a class is limited to between 15 and 18 pupils (optimally).
Teachers value each and every one of the students in their class, so that each student feels special and important.
Teachers engage pupils/students to create their own respectful classroom environment .
Teachers also motivate students/pupils so they can maintain attention and work consistently in classrooms.
Teachers will always try to increase pupils’/students’ self-esteem in order for them to achieve better results.
